Harwell Campus Supports Milestone Didcot Powerhouse Impact Event
As a founding partner and advisory board member of Didcot Powerhouse, Harwell Science and Innovation Campus hosted a special evening to celebrate the charity’s impact and future vision. The milestone event saw Didcot Powerhouse announce an additional £100,000 in grant funding for local causes, unveiling its 2024 Impact Report, and sharing its bold 2032 community ambition.
Bringing together 150 representatives from business, science, charities, local government, and community organisations, the evening recognised the 21 local projects that received £108,000 in grants last year – empowering grassroots initiatives that tackle inequality and deprivation across Greater Didcot.
Monika Zemla, Harwell’s Business Development Director and Advisory Group Member for Didcot Powerhouse, highlighted the campus’ dedication to driving meaningful change: “Supporting Didcot Powerhouse aligns with our commitment to creating opportunities, reducing inequality, and fostering a thriving local community. By investing in grassroots initiatives, we’re helping to build a stronger, more inclusive future.”
Elizabeth Paris, Chair of The Didcot Powerhouse Fund said: “The impact already achieved by these local charities with Powerhouse funding is truly impressive, and fuels Powerhouse’s evolving goal to make Greater Didcot and the surrounding villages one of the best places to live in Oxfordshire, and even in the UK.”
Local MP Olly Glover said: “Every grant injects help and support directly to where it’s needed, accurately guided by members of the Powerhouse Grants Panel who know the area well. Grassroots level support is essential to the viability and longevity of these community organisations and charities.”
Harwell Campus is dedicated to creating a lasting positive impact on the community and local economy by driving environmental, economic, and social value. Through its Community Employment Plan, the campus actively invests in local talent – encouraging a diverse workforce, supporting local hiring within its supply chain, and partnering with schools and colleges to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.
