Harwell Connect: RAL Particle Physics Dept

We are delighted to invite you to this Harwell Connect networking event hosted by the RAL Particle Physics Department at the RAL Visitor Centre (R112) on Monday 28 November from 3.00pm.

Join the Harwell Connect team to hear from speakers from RAL PPD, RadTest and STFC Technology and Scientific Computing, who will collectively share what their organisations are doing on campus, examples of their existing campus collaborations and potential for working together in the future.

Speakers include Dr Stewart Martin-Haugh (Staff Scientist, RAL PPD), Richard Sharp (RadTest CEO), and Marion Samler (Business Development Manager, STFC Scientific Computing).

During the event, there will be plenty of time for networking over tea, coffee and cake.

The Particle Physics Department (PPD) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) participates in and supports the UK particle physics experimental programme, providing capabilities that complement and go beyond what can be done in the universities.

RAL PPD focuses on three key areas:

  • High-radiation environments (RadTech)
  • Very low-radiation environments
  • Big datasets and computing (SCD, Technology) and radiation detectors (RadTech, Quantum Detectors)

Harwell Connect’s bi-monthly events are open to all campus organisations and sectors, providing a central forum to network and meet colleagues from the 200+ companies and facilities spread across the site. Harwell Connect events are hosted by a different campus organisation each time, providing an opportunity to visit some of the buildings you may never have been inside.

If you cannot come along in November, please invite colleagues along in your place and also feel free to invite any contacts you may have from other campus-based organisations that you work with.

We look forward to welcoming you and/or your colleagues to the Harwell Connect event.

The event is brought to you by Harwell Campus and STFC in partnership.
