Harwell plays pivotal role helping ARC to secure finalist spot at British Diversity Awards

Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, a key member of the ARC network, has played a significant role in earning ARC recognition at the British Diversity Awards. The network’s holistic approach to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion has secured a finalist spot in the prestigious Outstanding Ability Network category.

At the heart of this achievement was the launch in 2024 of ARC’s Neuroinclusive Network, set up to:

  • Raise awareness of neurodiversity across member organisations.
  • Promote creation of more inclusive lab spaces.
  • Establish a network-wide Employee Resource Group to foster engagement and education.

Recognised as one of the most prestigious platforms for promoting inclusivity, the British Diversity Awards spotlight those who are not just talking about change but are actively driving it.

ARC has set a new standard for inclusivity across the industry. Member organisations at Harwell helped contribute to ground-breaking research which enabled the creation of industry guidelines for building more inclusive lab spaces. The recommendations are now being included in the redesign and refurbishment of Lumen House at Harwell, ensuring the space is thoughtfully tailored to meet the diverse needs of its future occupants.

The awards’ organisers stress the urgency of their mission: “At a time when societal divisions are widening, and minorities are increasingly targeted, it is more important than ever to champion DEI. Equality, respect, and inclusion should be non-negotiable rights for everyone – but achieving this requires commitment, resilience and leadership, which our finalists embody year and year.”

ARC is shortlisted alongside: Avanade, Capita, CBRE UK, Cisco, Clifford Chance, GSK, Haleon, HSBC UK, Mace, Nationwide Building Society and The University of Wolverhampton.
