Funding and support

At Harwell we have three dedicated funding schemes available to organisations to apply for. We also actively promote a range of national and regional schemes to help make finding funding opportunities easier.

STFC business incubator1

ESA-BIC

Provides the support and funding that start-up companies need to turn their ideas into profitable products and services using space technology, or to develop technologies for use in space.

Proof of Concept Fund

An annual call for funding of up to £40k for interdisciplinary projects run by the Science and Technology Facilities Council.

Applications invited from businesses which collaborate with one or more campus cluster organisation.

QuBIC

Provides support to start-ups developing innovative products or services that rely on quantum technologies

The UK Innovation Science and Seed Fund (UKI2S)

A national seed investment fund that nurtures innovative businesses emerging from the UK’s publicly funded science and knowledge base, to leverage private investment and grow jobs.

Whether you’re starting up or have a new idea the world needs, find ready-made, ready-to-move-in lab space for your organisation. At Harwell we have a diverse range of spaces to suit the needs of a wide range of innovative businesses. We also have larger spaces available.

12 month licence.

 

DISC provides access to equipment and expertise to help you innovate and accelerate the development of new products and services in the space sector .

Space available for 5-30 people.

A mix of serviced clean rooms, lab space and office space available to let to start up and scaling organisations.

Connect and collaborate by renting a desk in our shared workspaces, with hot desks available on a day-to-day basis as well as more permanent, pre-assigned spaces.

Space available for 1-35 people.

A contemporary learning environment with bright, modern and flexible spaces including labs, and meeting rooms that are easily adaptable allowing you to choose the layout that best suits your needs.
