Talking Science with RAL

27th September 2024, 7:00 – 8:30 pm

This is the first of our 2024-25 Talking Science events – we have a fantastic series of talks lined up for you and we do hope you’ll be able to join us for them!

As well as covering some fantastic topics, we will also be running some family-friendly hands-on activities after our half-term lunchtime talks. The talks will cover everything from dinosaurs to discovering new planets around distant stars.

The Universe in a Pancake – Friday 27th September (19:00 – in-person only) – delivered by RAL Space’s Dr Victoria Yankelevich

RAL Space has had significant involvement in over 200 instruments on space missions over the last 60 years. Astronomy missions aim to answer big scientific questions such as how did the Universe form and evolve? The Planck mission helped us understand the Big Bang and how the Universe expanded, and we can show how it looked by cooking pancakes!

Tickets for in-person events close the night before the event: if you would like to book an in-person last-minute place, please email us at visitral@stfc.ac.uk.
