EngineeringUK SME research project
Can you spare 90 mins to help bring more young people into the engineering and tech workforce?
EngineeringUK are conducting a research project in partnership with the Careers & Enterprise Company and the ERA Foundation. As you may have experienced yourself, there are longterm challenges in recruiting engineers and technicians. EngineeringUK is determined to increase the numbers of young people from all backgrounds choosing engineering and tech careers to address these workforce shortages. To this end, they are reaching out to you about a project focused on finding and implementing solutions to enable quality and impactful engagement between SME’s and young people.
Hearing from SMEs directly will help us identify key barriers to engagement, uncover any existing and successful models of engagement that can be scaled, and come up with potential solutions that can be implemented to support the SME community to engage with young people.
We are hosting a series of workshops with SMEs from across engineering and technology.
We’re keen to engage with SMEs that are:
- already successfully engaging with young people, to understand what motivates them, how they succeed, and what support, if any, they are using to enable delivery of their engagement activities
- not currently engaging with young people, to understand any barriers they have – which may be motivational as well as practical
As an SME operating at the heart of our target sectors, we’d really appreciate your participation in the online workshops that will be focused on sharing of practice, uncovering challenges, and generating ideas and solutions that can help to foster greater engagement.
We are running three online workshops:
Thursday 10th November 2022 – 12:00-13:30
Wednesday 23rd November 2022 – 12:00-13:30
Wednesday 7th December 2022 – 12:00-13:30
Please let Moira Shaftoe, MShaftoe@engineeringuk.com, one of the Business Partnership Managers, know if you have any questions or if you think you can help us by joining a workshop.
