Dark Matter Day: Happy Halloween
Join us for this interactive online visit to Boulby Underground Laboratory to celebrate Halloween and Dark Matter Day.
When we look around our world and out into space, there is an enormous variety – trees, birds, planets, and stars; however, everything that we can see and touch (“visible matter”), accounts for only 5% of the Universe. At the Boulby Underground Laboratory, we’re working on the search for the rest – the missing ‘dark’ matter.
At this family-friendly event we’ll be going live to the Boulby Underground Laboratory, 1100 metres deep underground to meet the team to find out how they use their imagination to help to search for something we can’t see. We’ll be doing a fun Halloween activity, making our own dark matter masks, that you can join in with at home.
This event will take place online, via Zoom webinar, and will involve a hands-on activity for you to do at home using recycled materials. Details of what you’ll need will be in your confirmation email.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the team.
