4th Summit for Space Sustainability

22nd June 2022, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

The UK Space Agency will co-host a global summit to agree new ways of ensuring a safe, sustainable and secure space environment, including tackling space debris which threatens the satellites we rely on in our daily lives.

Building on the success of the past three events, SWF is committed to bringing the topic of space sustainability to even more diverse international audiences. We are pleased to be co-hosting the 4th Summit for Space Sustainability with the UK Space Agency.

With the theme “Global Priorities for Space Sustainability” this year, the Summit will be a unique gathering of global stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society. It will feature keynotes, interactive sessions, panels and networking designed to highlight opportunities and challenges for developing solutions for space sustainability.

With the increase in space tourism, satellite megaconstelations, and debris from anti-satellite tests in recent years, the need for sustainability is becoming ever more urgent. The Summit will encompass a cross-section of space sustainability areas, including orbital capacity, space debris, space law and policy, lunar governance, national and international space security, and space stations. While aiming to stimulate fresh ideas and dialogue, the Summit will combine thought-provoking and diverse perspectives, with innovative programming to encourage participation, solution-building, and networking.

The Summit for Space Sustainability is in person for the first time since 2019, and we will be strictly following the public health guidelines from the venue and the UK government.
